Pinwheel Quilt Step Four: Final Steps

This was probably the biggest project I’ve tackled to date (aside from hand quilting a king-sized quilt for my parents…still working on that). It’s also been one of most gratifying projects. Finishing it was almost bittersweet. Almost. It was mostly exciting—but it was so pretty, it was hard to say goodbye!

July Wedding Gift #1: Coasters and Pot Holders

Hello? Anybody there? It’s been a hot month since the last time I posted on the blog. Let me tell you, July has been crazy. I had an impromptu hiatus due to too many projects, not enough time, and traveling—over 30 hours in the car. I’ll be talking more about that later for a Reflection Sunday post…but let’s talk about one of the projects I pumped out this month!

Pinwheel Quilt Step One: Preparation

This summer my brother and I went to Michigan to visit some extended family and go to a friend’s wedding. We had a great time. Towards the end of our stay, my aunt asked if I would make a quilt for her to go in the room I stayed in while I was there. She gave me a vintage handkerchief to use as inspiration. We looked at Pinterest for some ideas of what she liked.

Triangle Practice: Chevron Baby Blanket

The first design I drew up involved small triangles—but it was going to take me forever to make, so I decided to go with big and bold chevrons. I wanted to use several different patterns for the yellow, grey, and pink with a solid white chevron.
