Easy Taco Bake
This is a new recipe for us. I found the original recipe on Pinterest, and made some minor adjustments. In the future, I think I would make a few more changes, but overall we enjoyed this recipe quite a bit.
In a 9x13in pan, pour a bag of Fritos to cover the bottom of the pan. I put the whole bag in pan. Minus a few. Mom and I ate a few. Quality control. You know.
Turn some ground beef into taco meat. Follow the directions on the back of the taco seasoning.
While the meat was browning, I made some… I don’t know what to call it… Taco sour cream? Spicy sour cream? I don’t know. Mix a packet of taco seasoning into a standard size tub of sour cream. Set it aside when you’re done, this will go on top of the bake. It’s also really good on chips.
After the meat was done, I poured it over the top of the chips in the pan.
I used the same skillet to make the cheese sauce. Heat up two cans of cheddar cheese soup with one can of milk. (Here’s where I will make another change for next time…I think I will maybe switch out one of the cans of soup for a jar of queso. It would be a good way to add more flavors.) Once the cheese sauce is mixed up and warmed up a little bit, pour it over the top of the meat and chips.
Add a layer of mozzarella cheese to the top. Next time I’ll use a
Bake for 20 minutes at 350F—or until the cheese is all melty.
I set up the counter like a taco bar. I added shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, olives, and the yummy sour cream mixture to my helping. My brother skipped the olives. Some guacamole would have been good too.
I like this recipe because it’s easy to tailor to what your family likes. This recipe will definitely be added to the repeat list!
