Ribbons and More Ribbons
I didn’t write a Sew Monday post this past week because every night was spent baking and frosting cupcakes—more on that on Friday.
If you started reading these posts back in the beginning, you may remember my Security Blankets that I made for my cousin in Germany. Since then my cousin and aunt in Michigan have both requested Security Blankets. I’ve started collecting materials for more of these to put up on my Etsy shop.
I found myself strolling through JoAnn’s a couple weeks ago and happened upon the ribbon aisle. They had put up clearance signs. I couldn’t believe that they were going to discontinue the ribbon. Not after I finally had a project that required ribbons.
All of the ribbon was on sale for a good deal—a really good deal. I scoured that aisle for all of the ribbons that I could maybe use. Wide and narrow. Polk-a-dot and stripe. Owls and baby feet. Monsters and animals. All of the ribbon. I filled my cart with ribbon.
There was a moment when I thought to myself, “I don’t really need all of these.”
Quickly followed by, “But they’re really cheap and ribbon is not inexpensive. This is a good deal. Do it. You’ll find a use for all of it.”
Then I also had to get some containers to put the ribbon in because the container I had a home wasn’t going to cut it anymore. I also wanted something that was going to be more functional—so all of the ribbons were viewable and easy to access.
Something about organizing ribbon is therapeutic. I’m looking forward to making more Security Blankets.
I’m going to be posting these on my Etsy shop. Be sure to check back there for more patterns and color combinations.
Happy Sew Monday!
